CRETE, Neb. (jimmiepride.com)– The 14th-ranked Jimmie men’s basketball team won its fourth straight game with an 80-63 victory over Doane University Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Doane hit back-to-back three-pointers to begin the game, but the Jimmies settled in and took the lead for good after Colby Vazquez (JR/Millbrae, CA) made it 18-16 with 10:08 in the half.
  • Marc Kjos (SR/Lake City, MN) sank consecutive threes to extend UJ’s lead to 24-16 at the 7:19 mark.
  • After Alec Oberhauser scored to bring the Tigers within seven, the Jimmies outscored Doane 7-0 over the final 3:08 of the half to take a 39-25 lead at the break.
  • Cole Woodford (JR/Redwood Falls, MN) led all players with 17 first-half points, making 5-of-8 three pointers and 6-of-9 shots overall.
  • Will Cordes (JR/Shakopee, MN)’s three-pointer at the 11:43 mark gave Jamestown a 54-35 lead, matching its largest of the game.
  • The Tigers went on an 11-0 run to make it an eight-point game with 9:16 left.
  • UJ answered with a 7-0 run of its own to push the lead back to 63-48 just over three minutes later.
  • Mason Walters (SR/Jamestown, ND) had 16 of his 22 points in the second half, and Cordes added 11, including three three-pointers.

JAMESTOWN GAME NOTES

  • The Jimmies shot 49.2 percent (29-of-59) from the floor, including 42.9 percent (15-of-35) from three.
  • Woodford had 20 points and four steals, and was joined by Cordes (16) and Kjos (12) in double figures.
  • Cordes dished out six assists and Walters grabbed 11 rebounds.

DOANE GAME NOTES

  • The Tigers shot 38.2 percent (21-of-55) from the floor, including 40 percent (6-of-15) from three.
  • Brady Timm had a team-high 19 points while Cooper Sheldon scored 11 and Oberhauser 10.
  • Sheldon pulled down 11 rebounds and Oberhauser had five assists.
