VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  Hi-Liner basketball faces Grand Forks Central tonight in a pair of pivotal Eastern Dakota Conference (EDC) matchups.

Central comes to Valley City for girls basketball tonight, while the boys travel to Grand Forks.  Both games are worth two league wins, as they will be the only meetings between the teams this year.

The Knights recently had a five-game winning streak snapped by Fargo Shanley in boys basketball.  The streak included wins over Fargo North and Devils Lake, notable wins in the middle of the league standings.

Central is 5-5 in the EDC standings.  Erick Paye leads the Knights, scoring 17.6 points and grabbing 9.3 rebounds per game.  Valley City is still searching for it’s first league victory, and they are led by Zach Sykora’s 12 points per game.

The girls matchup will feature two teams with one league win each.  Both teams own commanding wins over Fargo South this season.  Lauren Reardon leads the Kinghts with 18.8 points per game.  Brooke Eggermont leads the Hi-Liners at 12 points per contest.

Both games are scheduled for tipoff at 7:15 PM.  Boys coverage will be on KOVC AM 1490/FM 96.3.
