CASSELTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The top-rated Squirrels sweep the Cardinals of Carrington Thursday night in Casselton. In the girls game, No. 7 Central Cass won 65-32, in the boys game, No. 2 Central Cass defeated Carrington 63-28. CC girls improve to 8-2 overall, No. 5 Carrington suffers their first loss and are now 10-1. CC boys are now 8-0 overall, Carrington drops to 6-3 overall.

In the girls game, there were two ties early on but then Central Cass went on a scoring spree and led 41-15 at halftime. The Squirrels were led by Senior Dacontee Smith with 14 points, Klaire Cotton added 13 and Miki Prochnow had 12 off the bench.

In the boys game, 6’7″ Junior Cole Holzer dropped in 13 of his 15 total points in the first half, including three 3-pointers and the Squirrels cruise to the 35 point victory. Carter Vrchota added 12 and Sam Kobbervig 11, Carrington was led by Sophomore Josh Bickett with 11.

Next up for Carrington girls will be Friday night at Bismarck State College to play No. 1 Kenmare/Bowbells, KDAK AM 1600/100.1 and newsdakota.com will have the game starting about 645pm pregame, 7pm tipoff. Next up for Carrington boys will be Tuesday Jan. 17th in Carrington against May/Port/CG, KDAK will also have that game starting about 7pm
