JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The final day of the 2023 Boys Stutsman County Basketball Tournament was held at the Jamestown Civic Center with four placing games on Saturday, here are the results:

Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter 62  Kidder County 50 (7th place)

This game was close throughout the first three quarters, featuring nine ties and nine lead changes, KC had the lead 43-42 heading into the fourth and final quarter. But with some help from Trenton Erbele, the Imperials of NGS outscored the Wolves 20-7 in the fourth quarter and they pick up their first win of the tournament and improve to 2-5 overall. Erbele led all scorers with 24 points and he pulled down 15 rebounds. Braxton Ryum and Trevor Moos added 15 each, Ryum hit four treys. KC was led by Collin Zimmerman with 14 points, and they remain winless at 0-7 overall.

Carrington 55  Griggs/Midkota 44 (5th place)

The Cardinals never trailed in this consolation championship game, their largest lead was by 16 points and they shot 50% from the field for the game. Carrington had three players in double figures, Jack Erickson, Grady Shipman and Hudson Schmitz all had 16 points. Erickson and Schmitz were both one rebound away from a double-double. GM was led by Brady Haugen with 18, including four 3-pointers. Carrington is now 5-2 overall, GM drops to 3-5 overall.

South Border 66  Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier 63, OT (3rd place)

In the first and only overtime game of the tournament, the Mustangs hang on and defeat the Rebels of EKM. SB led 47-37 at the end of three quarters of play, but EKM came back to tie the game at 57 and send it to overtime. SB was paced by Kaden Bader with 25 points including five 3-pointers, Trevor Schmidt added 23 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. EKM was led by Jacob Nitschke with 32 points, Braeden Kinzler added 12 and Dylan Carlson 11. SB improves to 5-2 overall, EKM drops to 2-3 overall.

Ellendale 69  Medina/Pingree/Buchanan 52 (championship)

For the third year in a row, the Cardinals of Ellendale are crowned the Stutsman Champs. The Cardinals shot 57% from the field for the game, made 11 treys and had 21 total assists in the contest. Leading the way was Levi Reis with 21 points, he hit seven treys, he had nine the night before. Riley Thorpe added 18 points and Anton Geller had 11 points and nine assists. For MPB, they were paced by Josh Moser with 17 and Rylan Wick with 14. Ellendale remains undefeated at 7-0, MPB suffers their first loss and are 3-1 overall.
