(NewsDakota.com/USAgNet) – Milk production in the United States during November totaled 18.3 billion pounds, up 1.3 percent from November 2021.

California continues to have the highest total production with about 3.33 billion pounds. Georgia had the greatest percent-increase in output as that state produced 164 million pounds of milk–about 13.1 percent more than the same period last year. Fifteen of the top 24 states had higher year-to-year production last month.

Production per cow in the United States averaged 1,937 pounds for November, 17 pounds above November 2021.

The number of milk cows on farms in the United States was 9.42 million head, 38,000 head more than November 2021, and 1,000 head more than October 2022.
