JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – In the first home doubleheader of the season, the Jamestown High School basketball teams each picked up a win over non-conference rival Valley City.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: JAMESTOWN 95, VALLEY CITY 58

11 points in the first four minutes of the game for Rylee Joseph helped jump-start the Blue Jay offense in their first win. Joseph ended the game with 17 points while Ella Falk’s 21 points were a game-high for the Blue Jays. For Valley City, Drew Potratz had 12 points as the Hi-Liners fall to 0-4 on the year. Jamestown, now 1-2, hosts Minot on Thursday night while the Hi-Liners are back in Valley to take on Fargo South.

BOYS BASKETBALL: JAMESTOWN 83, VALLEY CITY 55

A physical contest with 52 combined free throws saw Jamestown pull away in the second half to improve to 2-1 this season. The Jays led Valley City 42-30 at the break and the Hi-Liners immediately cut the lead to nine to start the second half, but Jamestown’s offense proved to be too much. Noah Meissner led Jamestown with 21 points and Dalton Lamp had 19, 17 of which came in the second half. Zach Sykora’s 17 points were a team-high for Valley City. Jamestown improves to 2-1 on the year and travels to Minot on Thursday while Valley City drops to 0-5. The Hi-Liners host Fargo South on Thursday night.
