VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The city of Valley City is reminding the public that vehicles parked on snow emergency routes will be towed if not removed while city crews are trying to remove snow along emergency routes during and after a snow storm event.
Public Works Director Clint Klemisch said crews have cleared snow emergency routes several time and continue to work at completing residential areas of the city.
City Administrator Gwen Crawford said several vehicles are stuck or stranded on city streets. She said if the vehicles aren’t removed soon, freezing temperatures will make it difficult for owners to get their vehicles buried with a combination of freezing ice and snow.
Klemisch said it will take several days to remove all of the snow from city streets and alleys. Garbage pickup will resume on Monday, December 19th. He said city crews are working overtime to clear snow and, next week, picking up garbage for Valley City residents.
City crews have to rest for a few hours and will start working again at midnight, starting in downtown Valley City.
Snowfall amounts from Tuesday, December 13th thru Friday morning on December, 16th reported to the National Weather Service. Note, additional snowfall amounts from Friday afternoon and beyond where not available in this report.
