VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  The Maple River Raiders girls basketball team added the Barnes County Tournament title to their hot start to the season.

The Raiders claimed the title with a 69-31 win over Richland Friday at the W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse in Valley City.  The Raiders claimed the six-team tournament championship after being seeded second to LaMoure-L-M.  The Loboes stumbled in the semi-finals dropping a 48-46 loss to Enderlin on day two of pool play.  Wyndmere-Lidgerwood-Hankinson finished third, handing the Loboes a 54-42 loss Friday.

Enderlin, despite the win over LaMoure-L-M Thursday, still finished pool play in a position of being moved into the fifth-place game.  The Eagles defeated Barnes County North 46-10 Friday.

Maple River is now 4-1, their lone loss to Central Cass,  the state’s top-ranked team.

Raiders senior Chloe Wetch claimed the annual free-throw shooting contest, sinkingg 23 of 25.  Barnes County North won the tournament sportsmanship award.

The all-tournament team consisted of Wetch and Iris Richman of Maple River, Alayna Schmitt Kennedi Wagner of Richland, Zoey Bohnenstingl and Gracie Kaczynski of W-L-H, Norah Delabarre and Georgia Lettenmaier of L-L-M, and Genevieve Gruba and Aspyn Schlecht of Enderlin.
