VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  Hi-Liner head coach Ty Terry has not been shy about his approach to defensive basketball.

After struggling against Devils Lake Tuesday, Valley City was looking for a bounce on that side of the game, and they found it Friday in Wahpeton.

But they struggled to find offense.

The Hi-Liners held Wahpeton, who scored over 90 points against Horace Tuesday, scoreless for over four minutes to start the game, but struggled with shooting and foul trouble in a 66-46 loss Friday night.

Valley City settled for just 15 field goals, 10 of them three-point shots.  Early foul trouble for post Calahan Burchill, and later foul trouble for Jack Dieterle, Burchill’s replacement, limited what the Hi-Liners could find in the post all evening.

Aiden Jacobson led the team in scoring with 11 points, all in the second half.  His run brought the Hi-Liners to within seven, in possession of the ball, in the middle of the second half.  Jacobson earned Ivy Real Estate Group Player of the Game honors.

Valley City falls to 0-2, and will face West Fargo as part of a girls-boys doubleheader on Tuesday night.
