VALLEY CITY, ND  (Submitted by Viper Hockey Club)  The Valley City Vipers had a busy week last week, topping their future teammates in a friendly, then falling to the Grafton North Stars this past weekend.

In a matchup of future teammates, Valley City squirts bested Jamestown Wednesday night 9-3 in Valley City.

Gray Kasowski (four goals), Brody Kalbrenner (three goals, two assists) and Riley Roelfsema (one goal, three assists) lead the Viper offense.  It was a complete team effort however as Beck Dietrich (3A), Gavin Wiebe (3A), Kayson Ziemba (1G) and Riggs Kasowski (1A) all contributed points on the night.  Tyler Olsen, goaltender, collected 12 saves.

The Vipers held a 2-0 lead in the first period and a 3-1 lead in the third period, but would give up three goals in the final 10 minutes to fall to the Grafton North Stars squirt A team 3-4 on Friday night in Valley City.

Brody Kalbrener (assist Riggs Kasowski) and Gavin Wiebe (assist Gray Kasowski) would score the first two goals of the game but Grafton would score with 12 seconds left in the first period to end the period 2-1.

No goals would be scored in the second period but Kayson Ziemba (unassisted) would score a short handed goal less than a minute into the third to give the Vipers a 3-1 lead.

The Vipers would struggle to control the puck and clear their zone late in the game and would fall 3-4.  Goalie Tyler Olsen would would turn away 28 of 32 shots on goal; he faced 17 shots in the third period.

The Vipers fall to 4-2 on the season and will host Devils Lake A next Saturday and West Fargo A on Sunday.
