SIOUX CITY, IA. (NewsDakota.com) – The #2 University of Jamestown women’s volleyball kept its season alive on Friday morning with a sweep of conference opponent Saint Mary to round out Pool Play at the National Tournament. Set scores were 25-23, 25-13, and 25-22.
The Jimmies and the College of Saint Mary played even through the first 40 points of set one before UJ’s Lexi Olson shut the door on the opening set with an emphatic kill to put Jamestown in front 1-0. The Jimmies controlled set two from the start, scoring five service aces in the second set and hitting .448 en route to a 2-0 match lead. In set three, the Jamestown attackers continued to hit at a high rate, attacking at a .447 percentage to get the sweep. The Jimmies have now won 15 consecutive matches and are 19-1 against GPAC teams this year.
Kalli Hegerle, Anna Holen, and Aleah Zieske all reached double-digit kills for Jamestown with Hegerle leading the way with 14. Holen picked up a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs while Zieske finished with 10 kills and hit .350. Olson had eight kills for the Jimmies without making an error, hitting .613 on the day. Hegerle had a match-high 26 assists and Ellie Holen’s 15 digs tied for the match high.
