VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  Valley City turned in a dominating performance to start their 2022-23 wrestling campaign, dominating the undermanned Fargo North Spartans 71-9 at North Tuesday.

North forfeited six weight classes due to a short lineup.  Valley City dropped just two bouts on the night.

A highlight match was returning state champion Koye Grebel, moving up two weight classes to challenge second-ranked 145-pounder Gus Maughn.  Grebel worked a 17-point technical fall at 5:39.

The Hi-Liners face Fargo Davies next Tuesday in their next action.
