SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KFGO) – Sioux Falls based Sanford Health and Fairview Health Services have signed a non-binding letter of intent to combine and create a new health system.

A joint statement says the combined system would bring together Sanford Health’s Rural hospitals and clinics with Fairview Health’s experience in serving urban populations.

A statement says the combined system would be uniquely positioned to provide more people access to high-quality, equitable health care, accelerate population health and value-based care. The proposal would require anti-trust and other regulatory reviews.
