JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The #2 University of Jamestown women’s volleyball team held its top ranking throughout the GPAC postseason tournament as the Jimmies won its fourth straight postseason title in four sets on Saturday. Set scores were 21-25, 25-19, 25-20, and 25-17.
Concordia (NE) rallied in the opening set, scoring 10 of the final 11 points, to take set one and go ahead 1-0 in the match. The Jimmies responded in set two, jumping out to a commanding 12-2 lead before tying the game at one apiece.
In set three, both teams were even at 13 in the middle of the set before Jamestown’s Anna Holen picked up four kills in the final 12 Jimmie points to go ahead 2-1. Concordia put up another strong fight in the fourth, but it was Kalli Hegerle who delivered the final blow at the service line with an ace, one of five on the night for Hegerle.
Hegerle had a triple-double for the second consecutive match with 32 assists, 15 digs, and 14 kills. Holen matched her career-high 20 kills to lead all attackers and she also picked up 19 digs. Lexi Olson recorded 14 kills as she, Hegerle, and Holen all hit above .400 for the match.
Jamestown rounds out the conference tournament with a 31-2 overall record, going 18-1 against GPAC opponents in 2022. The Jimmies now wait to see who they face in the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament next Saturday, November 19th.
