ABERDEEN, S.D. (jimmiepride.com)– Mason Walters (SR/Jamestown, ND) scored 24 points to lead three players in double figures as the ninth-ranked University of Jamestown men’s basketball team improved to 2-0 with a 93-59 win over Presentation College Wednesday evening.
Cole Woodford (JR/Redwood Falls, MN) scored 16 and made four of five three-point attempts and Reid Gastner (SO/Lake City, MN) added 15 points including three three-pointers.
UJ shot 56 percent overall and 46 percent from long distance while holding the Saints to 39 percent overall and 19 percent on three-point shots. The Jimmies also had a 46-24 edge in rebounds, including a game-high 17 from Walters.
Presentation had trimmed Jamestown’s lead to 34-29 before the Jimmies finished the half on a 12-2 run to build up a 15-point advantage. Cole Woodford sank a three to make it a 20-point game at the 17:29 mark, and a Gastner three put UJ in front by 30.
It was the 15th straight win over the Saints for the Jimmies, who are 20-2 in the last 22 matchups dating back to 2011.
Next up is a road game Saturday at Valley City State (N.D.) University at 7 p.m.
