JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Senior Mason Walters surpassed Brequan “Q” Tucker for the most points in Jimmie men’s basketball history on Thursday night as #9 Jamestown put up 112 points in a 112-84 win at Newman Arena.

UJ was lights out shooting from start to finish as Dickinson State hung around with Jamestown through the first 10 minutes of play. After that, the Jimmies outscored the Blue Hawks 38-22 to go into the break with a 61-44 advantage.

Walters set the new scoring mark at the 18:47 point in the second half with a dunk which pushed him to 1,778 points in his career. The Jimmies would continue to build on their first-half lead and dominate during the middle stages of the final 20 minutes to grab the first win of the year.

Walters led Jamestown with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists. Marc Kjos nearly had a triple-double, finishing with 13 assists, 12 points, and eight rebounds. Will Cordes and Cooper Olson wear almost unstoppable, combing for 32 points on 13 of 16 shooting.

UJ poured in shots from all over the floor, shooting 57% from the field and 61% from three. The Jimmies were +23 in rebounds and +14 in points in the paint. Jamestown starts the year at 1-0 and travels to Presentation next Wednesday.
