WIMBLEDON, ND (NewsDakota.com) – Day 3 of the Dristrict 5 tournament saw the higher seed s win there games and the championship game go to five sets.
Game 1: Carrington 3 vs Ellendale 0
Set Scores: 25-15, 25-12, 25-21
Recap: Carrington got off to a quick start in the match jumping out to a large lead in both of the opening sets. Ellendale would battle back in the 3rd set but was unable to overcome Carrington in the end. Carrington would punch their ticket to the Region 3 tournament as the 3rd seed from the District.
Game 2: EKM 3 vs Griggs-Midkota 0
Set Scores: 25-7, 25-15, 25-12
Recap: Edgley-Kulm-Montpelior were all over Griggs-Midkota from the get go. They were able to grab the lead in all three sets and never look back. They would sweep the Titans and earn the #4 seed from District 5 in the Regional tournament.
Championship Game: LaMoure-LM 3 vs Oakes 2
Set Scores: 18-25, 25-21, 29-27, 25-20, 15-13
Recap: This was the game everyone thought it was going to be. Oakes jumped out early in set one to take it relatively quickly. The Loboes would come right back in set 2 with a tight back and forth affair where they would be victorious after 5 lead changes. The third set would see LaMoure-LM have 6 set points before finally putting it away. The Tornadoes would be in control again throughout set 4 and would look like they would win set 5 being up 13-10. The Loboes had other plans and would score 5 straight to win the #1 seed and the District 5 Championship.
