SIOUX CENTER, Iowa (jimmiepride.com)– The Dordt University Defenders outscored the University of Jamestown football team 17-0 in the third quarter on the way to a 44-24 victory Saturday afternoon.

Jamestown led 10-7 after the first quarter on a three-yard touchdown run by Cade Torgerson (SR/Billings, Mont.) and a 37-yard field goal by Aanon Peterson (FR/Andover, Minn.).

Dordt tied the game early in the second quarter on a Fulton Gunderson 36-yard field goal, then retook the lead as Gunderson connected on a 29-yard field goal with 4:28 in the half.

The Defenders extended their advantage to 20-10 as Kade McDaniel threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Konnor Knauf. UJ quickly made it a one-score game again as Parker Hager (JR/Steele, N.D.) returned the ensuing kickoff 95 yards down the left sideline for the Jimmies’ second touchdown of the half.

In the third quarter, Dordt engineered three scoring drives, two of them finding the end zone, on the way to a 37-17 lead entering the final quarter.

McDaniel threw his second touchdown pass of the game to Connor Dodd, covering 41 yards, as the Defenders pushed their lead to 44-17 with 8:55 remaining.

Torgerson led UJ to a touchdown with 5:17 to play, covering 75 yards in 10 plays, ending with a 26-yard pass to Ryan Collins (JR/Akron, Ohio) for the final points of the game.

Jamestown finished with 266 yards of total offense as Torgerson completed 19 of 30 passes for 193 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Micah Madyun (JR/Ramsey, Minn.) hauled in six catches for 44 yards and Zach Hammett (FR/Mohave Valley, Ariz.) carried 16 times for 88 yards.

Parker Chaffee (SO/Phelan, Calif.) led the defense with seven tackles and recorded the Jimmies’ lone sack. Rashawn Benners (JR/Dayton, Ohio) and Aaron Mack (SR/Jamestown, N.D.) both finished with five tackles.

UJ (3-7, 2-7 GPAC) has a bye next weekend before finishing the season on November 12 at Mount Marty (S.D.)
