SIOUX CITY, Iowa (jimmiepride.com)– The University of Jamestown men’s soccer team saw its postseason hopes dashed with a 2-0 loss at Briar Cliff University Saturday afternoon.

UJ needed a victory to overtake the Chargers for the seventh seed in the eight-team conference tournament.

In the 15th minute, Bernardo Torres put Briar Cliff in front by stepping in front of a Jimmie pass and beating goalkeeper Jort Ruijssenaars (FR/Zeist, The Netherlands). The lead increased to 2-0 after 27 minutes as Guillermo Francisco Gomez took a Vinicius Gregorio pass and put the ball in the back of the net.

Despite putting only one shot on goal in the first half, Jamestown had five attempts on target in the second half. Total shots were 11-9 in favor of BCU and both teams ended with seven shots on goal.

The Jimmies finish the season with an overall record of 6-11-1, 3-7-1 in the GPAC.
