JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – An unofficial state holiday, the North Dakota Deer Gun season will begin Friday, Nov. 4.

North Dakota Game & Fish Wildlife Biologist Doug Leier says in all the excitement, it’s easy to miss an important piece of the experience. He encourages hunters to get everything prepared beforehand. This includes locating their tags before hitting the field.

The Game and Fish Department must be contacted by phone at 701-328-6335, or email ndgf@nd.gov, to authorize the online purchase of a replacement tag. Printable applications are not available.

The deer gun season opens Friday, Nov. 4 at 12 noon Central time.

Leier adds with the excellent weather so far this fall, it’s allowed hunters a good bouquet of pheasants to hunt.

He says migration is slowly beginning, but there should be more and more as the days go by.
