JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The #2 University of Jamestown women’s volleyball team won its seventh consecutive match on Wednesday night with a sweep of #22 Dordt at Newman Arena. Set scores were 25-15, 25-19, and 25-21.

The Jimmies won the opening set after scoring 10 of the final 11 points in the 25-15 set one victory. Kalli Hegerle led Jamestown on the attack and tallied six kills as the Jimmies hit .297 as a team in the first set. Things were a lot tighter in set two but Jamestown’s edge on the attack helped them climb in front 2-0.

UJ fell behind 9-3 in the early stages of the third set before storming back to tie the set up at 11. Jamestown and Dordt traded blows in the middle of set three but the Jimmies were able to ride Hegerle and Anna Holen to pick up the sweep of the Defenders.

Hegerle finished with a match-high 12 kills and Holen added in 11 for Jamestown. Hegerle also led UJ with 17 assists and Paige Oswald had 15. Holen finished with a double-double by tallying 14 digs and her 11 kills pushed her past 1,200 for her career. Ellie Holen had 13 digs to move her to 594 on the season.

Jamestown moves to 26-2 on the year and 13-1 in the GPAC. The Jimmies have a one match lead for 1st place in the conference and control their own destiny for the remainder of the season. UJ hosts senior night on Saturday against Briar Cliff. First serve is set for 3:00 PM.
