JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Finance & Legal Committee has recommended moving ahead with an agreement between the city and Jamestown Community Corrections Program for 2023-24.

Director Sarah Frohlich says the program continues to provide community-based alternatives to incarceration while also helping both the city and county.

In numbers provided to the committee, Frohlich reports they are seeing down numbers from 2021 to 2022. She says changes in marijuana laws were a big reason for that.

Frohlich was asked how cooperative the entities and worksites are with the program. She says it’s been very positive so far.

She added a lot of the opportunities she can get for her clients are janitorial and include working at the Jamestown Civic Center, City Forester, Goodwill, Stutsman County Courthouse, and more.

The committee unanimously recommended the approval of the contract with no changes from the previous year.
