JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The National Buffalo Museum will be hosting its 3rd Annual Bid for Bison fundraiser once again starting Nov. 4.
Executive Director Ilana Xinos says the non-profit has held an online only auction the past two years, but have heard from supporters that they would like to see an in-person portion return.
Xinos says Nov. 4 was named National Bison Day, prompting them to move their big fundraising auction to start that day. She says they’ll still have their online auction, but will kick it off with a VIP reception at the Jamestown Arts Center.
Assistant Director and Curator of Collections Rachel Johnson says another component of the in-person event will be the unveiling of a newly purchased exhibit featuring works by Canadian artist Wes Olson.
Johnson added once the event is complete, the Jamestown Arts Center will host the exhibit through the month of November, which will be free and open to all. After it’s done, they will install the exhibit at the National Buffalo Museum.
The evening meal Nov. 4 will be catered by Chef Anthony Bauer of United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck. Xinos says with Bauer’s background of Indigenous Tribes, he’ll bring a unique food perspective to their event.
Xinos says the funds will go towards their mission at the National Buffalo Museum.
VIP tickets for the fundraiser are limited to the first 100 and can be purchased by visiting the National Buffalo Museum Facebook page or contact Ilana Xinos at 701-252-8648.
The online fundraiser will start Nov. 5 and run through Nov. 19.
