good-one

HILLSBORO, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Lisbon Broncos fought hard but could not hold on to get past the Hillsboro-Central Valley Burros. They would fall 14-8.

The game started with a quick opening drive by the Burros with several long passes. They would find the endzone on a 21 yard touchdown pass to Peter Dryburgh from Riley Olsen to get the scoring started. The Broncos would respond on the following drive with a slow and methodical 6:30 drive down the field with several big 3rd down and long passes from Wyatt Olson. They would score on a 1 yard run from Olson. Mike Nelson would convert on the 2 point conversion taking a 8-7 lead.  The quarter would end with that score.

The next quarter saw 2 turnovers and no scoring with an unforced fumble from Burro quarterback Riley Olsen being recovered by Colton Tapson. The ball would be turned back over after an interception by Dylan Mitzel his first of 3 on the day. The teams would enter the half with the same score of 8-7.

No one was able to score in the third quarter however the Burros were able to march it most of the way up the field to end the quarter and would start the 4th with a 1 yard touchdown run from Cole Hebl. They would take a 14-8 lead. Neither team was able to get much going on for the rest of the quarter until the Broncos started marching up the field on their final drive. They would get all the way to the Hillsboro 45 before Wyatt Olson would injure his shoulder requiring slot back Levi Sveum to fill in on quarterback. He would throw an interception to Mitzel. This would prove to be the final nail in the coffin for the Broncos. The final score would be 14-8.

The Lisbon Broncos end their season with a record of 5-3 in the region and 6-4 in overall.

Hillsboro now takes on Oakes at home next week for the quarterfinals. That game can be heard on 1220AM/100.3 KDDR or on NewsDakota.com.
