BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The new top-ranked team in Class A volleyball kept Jamestown out of rhythm from the start of the match on Wednesday night as #1 Century swept #3 Jamestown. Set scores were 25-16, 25-19, and 25-19.

Jamestown and Century each had longer runs to begin the first set before the Patriots leaned on Logan Nissley to power its way through set one. In the second set, Jamestown couldn’t capitalize on four service errors by Century as the Patriots turned to Claire Baumann and Eden Fridley to carry them to a 2-0 lead in the match.

Jamestown was within four points, 21-17, down the stretch in set three but a 3-0 run helped Century put away the Blue Jays for good for the second time this season. Nissley and Baumann were able to put the match out of reach in the third.

Haylie Hakanson led the Blue Jays with nine kills and Makenna Nold had 14 assists to go along with six kills. Bernadette Newman added six kills and Rylee Joseph had a match-high two service aces. Jamestown recorded three aces and six errors serving on Wednesday evening.

#3 Jamestown drops to 27-5 on the season and 15-3 in the WDA, still in second place in the region. Century moves to 17-0 in the West and 28-2 on the year. The Blue Jays travel to Dickinson next Thursday for an 8:00 PM first serve against the Midgets.
