SIOUX CITY, Iowa– The University of Jamestown totaled 93 points and is the preseason coaches’ selection to win the 2022-23 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men’s Basketball Championship.
The Jimmies tallied six first-place votes. Briar Cliff, with 87 points and the four first-place votes, is picked second. Northwestern was third in the balloting with 79 points and one first-place votes. Northwestern and Dakota Wesleyan round out the top five respectively.
Jamestown finished 26-10 last season, including 12-8 in the GPAC. In 2021-22, UJ qualified for the NAIA National Tournament for the third time in the last four seasons. Their 26 wins were the most since the 2018-19 team, which ended with a 29-6 mark.
UJ hosts Dickinson State (N.D.) on November 3 in the season opener and will begin conference play November 16 at home against Dakota Wesleyan.
