JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – An unverified threat prompted response from local agencies to the Jamestown High School just before 11 AM Thursday, Oct. 13.
Jamestown Public School Superintendent Dr. Rob Lech reports law enforcement was notified by phone of a “potential threat” at the school, forcing the campus into immediate lockdown.
“While the potential threat was not verified by law enforcement and there is no immediate threat, a systemic sweep is being conducted to ensure the safety and security of all students and staff,” Dr. Lech stated. “After consultation with law enforcement and out of an abundance of caution, all schools have currently been placed on lockdown.”
Major Justin Blinsky says at this time, all students are safe and being safeguarded by police in the school.
Unconfirmed reports suggest similar calls were placed in Grand Forks and St. Mary’s in Bismarck.
Major Blinsky says they’re asking for the public’s patience as they continue to clear the school.
Stutsman County Dispatch is asking members of the public to stay clear of the scene as law enforcement continues their operation.
