SEWARD, Neb. (jimmiepride.com)– The University of Jamestown football team struggled to get its offense going Saturday afternoon in a 30-15 loss to Concordia University.
Of the Jimmies’ first six possessions, four ended in a punt, one in an interception, and another on downs at the Bulldog one-yard line. Meanwhile, Concordia had touchdown drives of 99 and 97 yards and added a field goal to cap off an 86-yard drive for a 16-0 lead at the half.
The Bulldogs went 69 yards in ten plays to open the second half with another touchdown, increasing their lead to 23-0.
Jamestown got on the board with 5:10 to play in the third as Cade Torgerson (SR/Billings, Mont.) found Isaiah Roebuck (SO/Marana, Ariz.) for a 38-yard touchdown pass, and Aanon Peterson (FR/Andover, Minn.)’s extra point made it 23-7.
After the UJ defense forced a three-and-out, the offense drove 65 yards in ten plays, capped off by a five-yard pass from Torgerson to Micah Madyun (JR/Ramsey, Minn.). The two-point pass attempt to Madyun was good, and the Jimmies were down just 23-15 with 14:55 to play.
Another three-and-out by the defense was helped by a CUNE 21-yard punt, and Jamestown took over on its own 42-yard line. Passes from Torgerson to Ryan Collins (JR/Akron, Ohio) and Roebuck got the Jimmies down to the Bulldog 39-yard-line, but four straight incompletions resulted in a turnover on downs.
Concordia put together an eight-play drive that resulted in another touchdown and a 30-15 lead. The final two Jimmie possessions ended on downs, and the Bulldogs were able to run out the clock.
Jamestown (3-4 overall, 2-4 GPAC) returns home to host Morningside (Iowa) University next Saturday at 1 p.m.
