The second-ranked University of Jamestown volleyball team stayed unbeaten in conference play with a four-set win over No. 6 Concordia (Neb.) Friday evening at Harold Newman Arena. Set scores were 25-11, 24-26, 27-25, and 25-16.

Jamestown improves to 19-1 overall and 7-0 in the GPAC. The Jimmies will host No. 3 Midland (Neb.) Saturday, with the Warriors losing in four sets at 15th-ranked Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) Friday.

UJ came out with the early momentum in set one, hitting .469 to the Bulldogs’ .054. The Jimmies finished the set with 17 kills against two errors, and used a 9-1 run to take a 1-0 match lead.

Concordia bounced back with a set two win, holding Jamestown to eight kills. UJ led 9-7 before the Bulldogs went on a 10-5 run to take a 17-14 lead, eventually building the advantage to six at 22-16. The Jimmies won four straight points to tie the set at 24 before Concordia took the last two.

Set three looked to be going the way of Jamestown after taking a 17-11 lead. CUNE hung around and with the Jimmies ahead 24-22, won three of the next four to force a tie at 25-25. UJ responded with a kill by Anna Holen (SR/LaMoure, N.D.) and an ace by Tenley Buddenhagen(SO/Huron, S.D.) to win the set.

A 6-0 run early in the fourth was the difference for the Jimmies, as the Bulldogs trailed by as many as nine and only got as close as six the rest of the way.  UJ hit .410 to Concordia’s -.022 with 18 kills.
