JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – On a night when the parents of Blue Jay volleyball seniors rocked Hawaiian shirts with their seniors’ faces on the front, Jamestown cruised to a straight-set victory over Mandan (25-9, 25-8, 25-15) in a double counter.

Jamestown was rolling from the opening set on Thursday night in a quick three-set victory. Haylie Hakanson was the only Blue Jay to reach double-digit kills, winding up with 10 to lead the way. Bernadette Newman collected nine kills and Makenna Nold had another big night for Jamestown with six kills and 19 assists.

Jamestown got production from everyone who stepped on the floor with seven different players recording a kill. Kinley Anderson had five kills and Leah Trumbauer finished with four. Sophomore Edie Hegerle tallied 15 assists and the Jays had seven service aces as a team. Aspyn Peterson’s three aces led Jamestown.

The six seniors honored for Jamestown were Hakanson, Newman, Peterson, Benét Fronk, Rylee Joseph, and Bre Oettle.

Jamestown moves to 20-2 overall and 13-2 in the West with the victory. The Blue Jays will play in the Fargo Scheels Tournament on Friday and Saturday. Pool play begins at 5:00 PM tomorrow with Jamestown taking on Fargo North at North High School in Pool A.
