(NDAgConnection.com) – Other spring wheat production for 2022 is estimated at 263 million bushels, up 51% from last year, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. The 2022 area harvested for grain, at 5.26 million acres, is up 1% from 2021. Producers planted 5.30 million acres, down 4% from 2021. Yield, at a record high 50.0 bushels per acre, is up 16.5 bushels from 2021.
Durum wheat production is estimated at 31.2 million bushels, up 59% from 2021. Harvested acres, at 780,000, are down 5% from last year. Area planted is 790,000 acres, down 10% from 2021. The yield of 40.0 bushels per acre is up 16.0 bushels from last year.
Winter wheat production is estimated at 5.70 million bushels, up 188% from last year. The area harvested for grain totaled 95,000 acres, up 58% from 2021. Planted acreage totaled 105,000 acres, up 17% from a year earlier. The yield is a record high 60.0 bushels per acre, up 27.0 bushels from 2021.
Barley production is estimated at 48.2 million bushels, up 120% from 2021. Area harvested for grain, at 660,000 acres, is up 53% from last year. Planted acreage totaled 740,000 acres, up 28% from 2021. Average yield is 73.0 bushels per acre, up 22.0 bushels from last year.
Oat production is estimated at 13.5 million bushels, up 239% from 2021. Area harvested for grain, at 190,000 acres, is up 129% from last year. Planted acreage totaled 345,000 acres, down 3% from a year earlier. Yield, at 71.0 bushels per acre, is up 23.0 bushels per acre from last year.
