general-store

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It’s been a few years since the General Store at the Frontier Village has been open and operating.

But, Jamestown Tourism Visitor Experience Manager Allison Limke says they’re working to prepare the building for 2023.

Limke says with the changeover to the city in 2019 and COVID-19 pandemic, there were “a lot of unknowns.” But after years of planning, she says they’re excited to be working behind the scenes to get it ready for next Spring.

As one of the older buildings at Frontier Village, Limke says it has needed some maintenance for a while.

If approved, the grant would assist with rebuilding the deck of the General Store, making it more ADA compliant and creating more access to the building. It’ll also be raised so there will be no lip to step into the store, making it safer as well.

Limke says they expect work to be finished and the building will be ready by the time they open the Frontier Village for the 2023 season.
