OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The flu season is close and the best time to get vaccinated is now.
Dr. Tara Schmitz with Tara’s Thrifty White Pharmacy in Oakes says it takes two weeks for the vaccine to take full effect.
Dr. Schmitz says there are a lot of questions and misconceptions surrounding the flu vaccine.
What is the flu shot?
One misconception Dr. Schmitz says they hear is the flu vaccine gave them the flu. She says this isn’t true.
You’re encouraged to get your flu shot as soon as it’s available. She added you can also get your COVID vaccine along with the flu vaccine if you’d like.
