VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Are you interested in learning new skills in homemaking while having fun? If you answered yes, the Barnes County Homemakers of Today would like to hear from you!

If a few friends would like to start a new club or perhaps join an existing club, there are several options available to you in the area. Currently, there are five established clubs in the county. Most meet once a month although some take a break during the summer months. Meetings consist of both social activities and opportunities for learning.

The county office of the NDSU Extension Service offers four lessons per year on topics that range from estate planning to
nutrition to improving relationships. This year’s topics include an introduction to Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance, Food Mixes in a Jar, Pinching Pennies Food Prep and Simple Meals.

There are two forms of memberships available to those who would like to join Homemakers of Today – club membership is available to those wishing to join a club while mailbox membership is an option for those wanting to be an “independent” member. Both memberships are welcome to attend all lessons and take part in the annual Twin Cities tour.

On a side note, those who want to go on the annual tour need to be a member of the organization or they will be put on the waiting list, meaning that members receive priority in filling the tour slots. The tour is always a fun event each spring and includes at least two plays along with shopping and educational stops.

If this sounds good to you, contact the Extension Service by calling 845-8528, emailing susan.milender@ndsu.edu or stopping by their office on the second floor of the county courthouse.
