JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Dakota Wesleyan battled back from a 2-0 deficit in the match on Wednesday night but the Jimmies were able to score seven of the final eight points in set five to earn a huge win over the Tigers. Set scores were 25-20, 25-16, 14-25, 21-25, and 15-12.

UJ trailed 7-1 to begin the first set before a timeout by Coach Jon Hegerle lit a fire under the Jimmies. Logan Sherman and Kalli Hegerle played a big role in Jamestown coming back in the first set. UJ hit .300 in set one and .206 in set two.

Dakota Wesleyan relied on star junior Ady Dwight in the third and fourth sets to rally back and force a fifth and final decisive set. Dwight ended as the match leader with 25 kills. In the fifth, the Tigers took an 11-8 lead before UJ rallied off seven of the final eight points for the win.

Four Jamestown players finished with double-digit kills, led by Hegerle who had 16. Sherman had a career-high 13 kills and Aleah Zieske and Lexi Olson each finished with 10 kills. Hegerle led the Jimmies in assists as well with 32. Paige Oswald had 22 assists as the second setter for UJ on Wednesday night. Sophomores Grace Hegerle and Rachel Schiele as well as senior Averi Byer played key roles on the back row for Jamestown. The three defensive specialists ended with a combined 39 digs.

The Jimmies have won 14 consecutive matches this season and 38 straight inside of Newman Arena. Jamestown, 14-1 overall and 3-0 in the GPAC, hosts Mount Marty at 3:00 PM on Saturday afternoon.
