LE MARS, Iowa (jimmiepride.com)– The University of Jamestown men’s golf team is tied for eighth place after the first 36 holes of the NW Iowa National Invitational, which is being played at the par-72, 6,701-yard Willow Creek Golf Club.

The Jimmies finished the day with a team score of 601 (307-294) and are tied with Grand View (Iowa) University (308-293). Bellevue (Neb.) University is in first with a 579 (288-291).

Benjamin Schaefer (JR/New Rockford, N.D.) is one of four players who shot under par Monday, and is in third place at 2-under 142 (72-70). Jackson Worner (SR/West Fargo, N.D.) is tied for 11th at 2-over 146 (76-70), Max Noffsinger (SO/Ft. Collins, Colo.) is tied for 40th at 9-over 153 (78-75), Gehrig Geiss (SO/Glen Ullin, N.D.) is tied for 61st at 17-over 161 (82-79), and Logan Douglas (FR/Stanley, England) is tied for 64th at 18-over 162 (81-81).

“I was really proud of our guys today,” said UJ head coach Zach Hale. “They bounced back after a rough opening 18 this morning. This is one of the strongest fields we have been in (in my time as coach). We have set ourselves up with a great opportunity tomorrow. We need to continue believing in ourselves and our abilities and great things will happen!”

The final 18 holes will begin on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
