JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown football team couldn’t find its offensive rhythm on Saturday afternoon at Hansen Stadium as the Jimmies fell 48-3 to #4 Northwestern.

The UJ defense forced a turnover on downs during the opening drive for the Red Raiders but the offense went three-and-out on its first drive. After that, Northwestern’s offense was able to produce 27 points in the first half behind the right arm of Blake Fryar, who also threw a touchdown pass on a fake field goal.

The lone points for Jamestown came during the second quarter after the Jimmies picked up 23 yards on fourth down and two from midfield. The Jimmies got the ball down into the red zone before freshman kicker Aanon Peterson connected for 26-yards out.

Cade Torgerson was 15-for-24 through the air with 101 yards and an interception on the day. Freshman running back Zach Hammett carried the ball seven times for 45 yards to lead Jamestown on the ground. UJ totaled just 153 yards of offense compared to 541 yards for Northwestern. Jamestown was 0-10 on third down.

The Jimmies fall to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the GPAC with the loss. Northwestern improves to 2-1 overall and in the GPAC and will host Concordia (NE) next Saturday. The Jimmies travel to Midland for a 1:00 PM kickoff against the Warriors.
