JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Blue Jay defense forced four turnovers and special teams blocked two punts as Jamestown rolled to a 47-0 victory over Watford City on Homecoming.
Jamestown started the game by marching down the field in six plays before Payton Hochhatler found Jackson Walters for a 20-yard touchdown catch. The Blue Jays scored 19 points in the first quarter after Josh Robertson scored on a five-yard touchdown rush and Tuyikeze Faustin scooped a blocked punt and scored a touchdown.
The Jays led 19-0 going into the half and, much like they have done all year, turned on the pressure in the third quarter. Jamestown scored 21 points in the third as Hochhalter hit Walters and Tyson Jorrison for touchdowns and Roberston reached the endzone for the second time. Roberston would find paydirt one more time during the fourth quarter to cap his day off with three scores.
Hochhalter went 11-19 through the air for 202 yards and three touchdowns. Roberston scored three times on the ground and carried the ball for 44 yards. Walters ended the game with four receptions totaling 58 yards and two touchdowns. Walters has now caught two touchdowns in three consecutive weeks.
The Blue Jay defense was dominant all night long, holding Watford City to under 200 yards of total offense. Jamestown’s second unit finished off the game in the late stages of the fourth quarter with Ryan Kallenbach and Eric Chea leading the charge.
Jamestown moves to 4-0 overall on the season and the Jays are now 2-0 against WDA competition. Watford City falls to 0-5 on the year and 0-2 against the West. The Blue Jays travel to Wahpeton next Friday night and the Wolves take on Turtle Mountain in Belcourt.
