JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A recent housing study conducted by Maxfield Research, Inc. provides the first steps towards population growth in South Central North Dakota.
The study, which was spurred on by the South Central Dakota Regional Council (SCDRC), looked at housing and other factors in a nine-county region that includes Barnes, Dickey, Foster, Griggs, LaMoure, Logan, McIntosh, Stutsman and Wells.
David Klein is the executive director for Great Plains Housing Authority (GPHA).
Klein says the study took a look at affordable housing needs for communities in each county, but also factored in other items including work commute and future employment needs.
He says the study provides some tools that communities can tap into to start encouraging more housing development in the nine counties.
As far as affordable housing and future work in Jamestown, Klein says they hope to use the study to bring on more projects such as Eagle Flatts.
