Grand Forks, ND (NEWSDAKOTA.com) – Brothers III/Dakota Silver of Valley City won the 2022 state co-ed softball championship in Grand Forks this past weekend. The team went 4-0 in the tournament including victories over teams from Fargo and Grand Forks.

In their first game on Saturday Brothers III/Dakota Silver held on to a one run victory over Aartix Avengers from Grand Forks after a six-run 7th inning by the Avengers. The win was bolstered by a triple in the 6th inning by Kara Anderson that resulted in three runs. Ryan Sand was 3-4 with a run scored and Brady Anderson went 4-5 with a double. In their second game, the team posted an 8-1 win over Dwyer Law from Fargo. Matt Lyter went 2-3 with a double and a run scored and Brian Fike went 3-3 in the game. In the undefeated game against Aatrix Southgate Sunday morning, the team edged out a 15-13 win with Jordyn Heck going 5-5 with 2 home runs. Rylee Perez hit 3-5 with two doubles, Stephanie Wieland went 3-5 with a double and a run scored, and Hilary Flatt went 4-4 including a single and a run scored as part of an eight run 5th inning.

Brothers III/Dakota Silver faced Aatrix Southgate again in the championship game. Aatrix held a two run lead through the 4th inning before Brothers III/Dakota Silver put up eleven runs in the top of the 5th inning. The game ended 21-14 giving Brothers III/Dakota Silver the state championship. In the championship game, Stacie Fettig went 3-5 with a double, Wieland was 3-5 with two runs scored, Brady Anderson went 3-5 with a home run, a triple, and three runs scored, and Kara Anderson was 3-5 with two doubles.

Brothers III/Dakota Silver was led by Jordyn Heck who batted .824 in the tournament including three home runs, one triple, and three doubles. Fike hit .733, and Perez averaged .611 over the weekend.

Brothers III/Dakota Silver repeated as state champions after winning the 2021 title last year in Fargo. Thanks to Brothers III and Dakota Silver, locally owned businesses in Valley City for supporting local teams!

The Grand Forks Softball Association hosted the tournament that included teams from Fargo, Grand Forks, Valley City, Jamestown and other eastern North Dakota cities. There were thirty-eight teams entered in three divisions in the tournament.
