ABERDEEN, SD. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School boys and girls cross country teams traveled to South Dakota on Saturday as the boys took third and the girls finished fourth in the Salmi-Sahli Invite.
The boy’s team was third out of five teams with Jack Schauer posting a team-best time of 17:23 in the 5,000-meter race. Schauer placed fifth and Sam Anteau also had a top ten finish for the Blue Jays, coming in ninth with a time of 18:13. Jamestown had a team total score of 68 as Aberdeen Central picked up the win in their own invite. TF Riggs out of Pierre, SD took second while Watertown finished fourth and Fargo South was fifth.
In the girl’s race, Jamestown was led by Layna Hoffer who had a season-best race time of 22:10, good for eighth place. Madison Rick finished in 13th with a time of 22:26 and Brookly Nygaard and Emma Flieth ended the race 24th and 25th with times of 23:27 and 23:29. Jamestown’s team total was 84 as Aberdeen Central won the girl’s race as well.
The Blue Jays are back in action on Tuesday afternoon as Jamestown competes in the Central Cass Meet in Casselton at 4:00 PM.
