LA GRANDE, Ore. (jimmiepride.com)– The University of Jamestown women’s soccer team finished its Oregon trip with a 3-1 loss to Eastern Oregon University Monday afternoon.
The Jimmies (1-3-1) will play their home opener on Sunday against Rocky Mountain (Mont.) College at 12 p.m.
Trailing 1-0 at the half, Jamestown tied the match in the 49th minute on Karlie Hintze (SR/Herald, Calif.)’s first goal of the season. Haley Dyer (SR/Honolulu, Hawaii) was credited with the assist.
Eastern Oregon quickly retook the lead as Brooke Ford scored in the 54th minute. UJ had its best scoring chance come in the 63rd minute but Iliana Ramirez (SO/Marysville, Wash.)’s shot hit the post.
Hintze was shown a red card in the 59th minute and the Jimmies played the rest of the match with ten players. In the 77th minute, EOU was awarded a penalty kick and Erika Sindlov converted for her second goal of the match.
Shots were 16-9 in favor of the Mountaineers, as were shots on goal (12-3). Tea Pence (FR/Hamilton, Ohio) made eight saves for the Jimmies and Anna Cole (FR/Laurel, Mont.) had one after coming on in the 77th minute.
