Worner was the only player to finish under par Monday and is two shots ahead of MSUM’s Marcus Belka. Three players are tied for third at 1-over 73.
The Jimmies are in third place after a team score of 17-over 305. MSUM is in first place at 4-over 292, while a second MSUM team is second at 13-over 301. Minot State is fourth at 26-over 314 and North Central University fifth at 36-over 324.
Also in the top twenty after the first round are Max Noffsinger (SO/Ft. Collins, Colo.), tied for 13th at 5-over 77; Benjamin Schaefer (JR/New Rockford, N.D.), tied for 15th at 6-over 78; and Gehrig Geiss (SO/Glen Ullin, N.D.), tied for 18th at 8-over 80. Rounding out the UJ scoring was Shea Carroll (SO/Jamestown, N.D.) in 27th place at 14-over 86.
Carter Wells (SR/Huron, S.D.), playing as an individual, is tied for 7th at 3-over 75.
“Jackson played really well today,” UJ head coach Zach Hale said. “He’s put in a lot of work this summer and it shows. Max and Benjamin were right there and just had a hole or two that set them back a bit. Carter Wells played great as our individual. We just need to clean up those big numbers and finish on a strong note tomorrow.”
Tuesday’s final round is set for 9:00 a.m.
