FARIBAULT, Minn. (jimmiepride.com)– The University of Jamestown women’s golf team improved on their opening round score but were unable to gain any ground on the leaders as they finished fourth at the MSUM Maverick Invite, concluding on Tuesday at the par 72, 5904-yard Faribault Golf Club.

After a team score of 350 on Monday, the Jimmies shot 346 on Tuesday, led by Kyra Vogel (SO/Jamestown, N.D.)’s 13-over 85. Only three shots separated the top for UJ scorers as Jayme Carlson (SR/Hartford, S.D.) was at 14-over 86, Teagan Fee (SR/Havre, Mont.) at 15-over 87, and Haley Malone (SR/Moorhead, Minn.) at 16-over 88. Faith Justesen (JR/Hawley, Minn.) finished the day at 20-over 92. Minnesota State claimed the first two places at 661 and 664, followed by Southwest Minnesota State at 668, Jamestown at 696, Bemidji State at 725, and Minot State at 727.

Vogel was the top placer for the Jimmies, finishing tied for 12th at 24-over 168 (83-85). Carlson tied for 20th at 31-over 175 (89-86), Malone tied for 22nd at 34-over 178 (90-88), Fee was 24th at 35-over 179 (92-87), and Justesen was 25th at 36-over 180 (88-92).

Anna Cihak of Minnesota State took first with a 10-over 154 (79-75).

Next up for Jamestown is the Siouxland Fall Invite in Orange City, Iowa, and Sioux Center, Iowa September 7-8.
