MGM Trailer Court has dealt with flooding in the past, as shown from snowmelt earlier this year.
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown City Engineer Travis Dillman provided the latest date surrounding the MGM Trailer Court Hydraulics study Thursday, Aug. 25.
In April this year, the city engaged with Interstate Engineering to study the trailer court and discover the root of water issues at the site.
Engineer Ben Aaseth gave a summary of the study to the committee.
Aaseth says this study found several issues.
In the report, Aaseth says they could install two 24″ reinforced concrete pipes that could alleviate and bring down some of the headwaters. This would allow for acceptable cover over the culverts in accordance with NDDOT specifications.
He added work downstream will also help improve flow and alleviate buildup. Creating a trapezoidal channel by flattening out to a minimum of 5 feet where possible is also recommended.
The study was given as just informational, so the committee did not make any decision on a possible project. City Engineer Travis Dillman says this will give the city a chance to look over the project.
