JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It’s been two years since officials have deemed the death of Gunnar Syverson a homicide.

Today, the family is still seeking answers.

In August 2020, Syverson was found dead outside of a home in Hamberg, a small community in Wells County. At the time, the people of the home said he hung himself from a tree, but court documents show investigators believe it may have been staged.

Documents say the medical examiner said it appeared stage and Syverson was strangled with “marks to imitate ligature.”

Recently, family members attended the placement of a new headstone for Gunnar, which features him wearing his riders jacket on a motorcycle. The 4,000 pound stone is engraved with #JusticForGunnar as the family continues to look for answers in his death.

Court papers indicate police have suspects, but no arrests have been made.

A $25,000 reward has been offered by the family for the arrest and conviction in Gunnar’s case.

North Dakota BCI is investigating, but due to the active investigation, no further details can be shared at this time.
