Funds needed to support growing number of Minnesota FFA Chapters
As the number of FFA Chapters and Agriculture, Food and Natural Resource (AFNR) programs continue to grow, so is the need to raise funds to support students. To meet this growing need, the Minnesota FFA Foundation will hold the 3rd Annual Great Minnesota Give Together telethon on Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. live from the Christensen Farms Stage located by the CHS Miracle of Birth Center at the Minnesota State Fair.  The telethon will also be available for viewing on Minnesota FFA Foundation’s YouTube channel. The telethon will highlight student and program success through each of the eight regions of the state.
“We are seeing tremendous growth in the number of students enrolled in AFNR classes. More than 40,000 students are enrolled in 210 school across the state, and we anticipate that number to grow drastically in the next few years,” shares Val Aarsvold, Executive Director. “Agricultural Education is vital in providing students an opportunity to not only grow their awareness of agriculture, but to develop the skills needed to pursue careers in agriculture and to be leaders in their local communities.” The Minnesota FFA Foundation is committed to supporting the growth of FFA programs across the state.
The Four-hour telethon will include messages and performances from students, teachers, and the agricultural community throughout Minnesota.  In addition to showcasing the important role that agricultural education programs play, it serves another equally important role, that of providing an opportunity for individuals and businesses to support life-changing program through a donation to the Minnesota FFA Foundation. Donations can be made at mnffafoundation.org or by texting MNFFA to 71777. All donors will receive a thank you gift and be entered into a drawing to receive 2 concert tickets to see former FFA member Zac Brown and his Band during their show at the Minnesota State Fair on September 2nd.
A matching funds challenge is in place for the first seventy-five hundred dollars donated. Matching funds sponsors include: CoBank, Minnesota Farmers Union, Procise Solutions, AURI, Minnesota AgriGrowth Council and members of the Minnesota FFA Foundation Board.
