Lois Arzelle Wieck, 86, Litchville, N.D., passed away Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022, in SMP Health Ave Maria nursing home, Jamestown, N.D.
Lois was a beloved mother, wife, teacher and believer who touched the lives of many.
She was born March 31, 1936, to Albert and Lorraine (Hayfield) Berg. She graduated from Litchville High School in 1954, and then earned her teaching certificate at Valley City State University.
She married Melvin Wieck June 9, 1957, in Litchville.
Lois gave birth to four daughters (Holly, Laurie, Kristi and Angela), but she loved and cared for many more children over the course of her teaching career in McKenzie, Marion and elsewhere in N.D.
Melvin and Lois purchased her family’s farm near Litchville in 1976.
In the 1980s, Lois returned to VCSU to earn her bachelor’s degree. Not long after, she left teaching for a job with Alpha Opportunities and later with the Anne Carlsen School, both Jamestown.
Lois suffered from the effects of Alzheimer’s disease for several years before her death. While her family mourns the time they lost with her, they are grateful for the loving care she received from the staff at Roseadale and Ave Maria nursing homes in Jamestown.
Lois is survived by her daughters Holly Zoller, Bismarck; Laurie (Joel) Miedema, Litchville; Kristi (Larry) Weber, Jamestown; and Angela (Dale Nadeau) Wieck, Moorhead; sister-in-law Carmen (Berg) Svenningsen; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brothers, Larry and Warren Berg.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7,Thursday, Aug. 18, at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at Grace United Methodist Church, Marion, N.D., with a lunch to follow at the Marion Community Room.
