JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – One of North Dakota’s longest running bike races returns to the Buffalo City Saturday, Aug. 13.

Jamestown Parks & Recreation Director Amy Walters says she has been at the forefront of keeping the race going this year with help from local organizers and enthusiasts.

The off-road mountain bike race will feature four divisions; Beginner, Recreational, Sport, and Advanced. Depending on the race, bikers endurance and physical limit will be put to the test. Walters added the Gear Grinder is a unique way to highlight more than 35 miles of trails in Jamestown.

If biking isn’t your thing, Walters says they’ll be holding a run/walk along the Pipestem Creek Trails that same day.

“That’ll be a 3 mile walk, 3 mile run and 8 mile run,” Walters added.

Both events will take place roughly 4 miles North of Jamestown on Highway 281. For more information or to register, visit jamestownparksandrec.com or call Amy Walters at 701-952-8722.
