OAKES, N.D. (Oakes Public School) – Greg Dobitz has been named the Oakes Elementary School Principal.
Greg grew up in Bowman, North Dakota. After graduating from BHS, he obtained a bachelor’s degree from Valley City State University in 2005, majoring in Elementary Education. In 2017, he obtained his master’s degree in Educational Leadership from North Dakota State University.
Mr. Dobitz began his teaching career at Oakes Elementary fresh out of college, as a 4-6 Math Teacher. After 15 years of teaching, he took on the newly created role of Personalized Learning and Instructional Coach at OPS in 2020. Through this position, he has helped guide Oakes Public Schools’ transition to Personalized Competency-Based Learning. Greg will continue this important work with PCBL, incorporating it into his new role as principal.
Greg and his wife, Krista, have three handsome boys, Joseph, Luke, and Abraham, who keep them on their toes! In his spare time, Greg enjoys reading and listening to podcasts, but says the highlight of his downtime is playing catch with his boys.
When asked about the upcoming school year, Mr. Dobitz says “I’m looking forward to getting back to the halls of Oakes Elementary and interacting with each of our K-6 students in my new role as Elementary Principal – it’s going to be a great year!”
